Do you have a battery bank for your solar array, or is all the electricity produced put right into the grid?
I have been thinking about buying an old used EV of some sort, just to use the battery as storage for electricity produced by a solar array, and the permanent magnet motor in EV's are perfect for use as a generator in wind turbine.
We don't have a battery bank; it's grid-tied. In our area we'd need several million dollars worth of batteries to be able to store enough energy to last through the winter, when we get little sun, so grid-tried is the way to go: it's like a giant, free battery, since we have net-metering.
