The list of emergency manuals for Kia's Electric Vehicles is here - : Kia Emergency Response Guides
And for Hyundai - : Hyundai Emergency Response Guides

These have a lot of useful details about the car.
I am pairing off the cars I think have the same batteries.
In order of newest cars first.

---------------------------
1/ Kia N iro PHEV and Hyundai I oniq PHEV
I think these have an SK Innovation battery.
Both cars 96 cells * 3.75V * 24.7Ah = 8.9kWh

---------------------------
2/ Kia N iro HEV and Hyundai I oniq HEV
I think these have an LG Chem battery.
Both cars 64 cells * 3.75V * 6.5Ah = 1.56kWh

---------------------------
3/ Kia O ptima PHEV and Hyundai S onata PHEV
I think these have an LG Chem battery.
Both cars 96 cells * 3.75V * 27.2Ah = 9.8kWh

---------------------------
4/ Hyundai S onata HEV , Kia O ptima HEV , Kia Cadenza HEV and Hyundai Grandeur HEV
I think these all have the same LG Chem battery.

The cars have 72 cells * 3.75V laid out in 9 modules. Later models have a newer more energy dense cell.

2016 S onata HEV - 72 cells * 3.75V * 5.3Ah = 1.43kWh. The pack weighs 93lb.
2017 O ptima HEV - 72 cells * 3.75V * 6.0Ah = 1.62kWh

The 2018 O ptima HEV has a 1.76kWh battery. - see Optima Hybrid Specs
The 2018 S onata HEV also has a 1.76kWh battery. - see : 2018 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, Plug-In Hybrid released at Chicago auto show
There is also a 2018 Cadenza HEV that has a 1.76kWh battery. - see : 2018 Kia Cadenza Hybrid Goes Official In South Korea As K7 Hybrid
The 2018 Grandeur Hybrid has the same 1.76kWh battery. - see : Korean Car wiki

The latest 2018 battery packs are 72 cells * 3.75V * 6.5Ah = 1.76kWh. The pack weighs 93lb.

The latest Hybrid vehicles all use 6.5Ah cells. This will be usable capacity.
The N iro and I oniq HEVs use 64 of these cells for the High Voltage battery.
The S onata, O ptima, Cadenza and Grandeur HEVs use 72 of these cells for the High Voltage battery.

The I oniq and N iro HEVs additionally use 8 Lithium-ion cells for the 12V battery.

The graphic below is from a presentation by Jerome Gregeois at the Public workshop on Lead-Acid Batteries and Alternatives : Beyond the Car.
The meeting was organized by CalEPA on November 6,  2017, in Sacramento, California.
Ioniq HEV & Niro HEV presentation

The Hybrid battery for the I oniq Hev is also discussed
here - Setting up Torque to show BMS data
and here - Comparing layout of the Soul EV battery with other EVs

The cells used are rated 6,5A. Perhaps the actual cells used are these with a total capacity of 7.5A

In the repair manual for the I oniq HEV there is a screenshot of the official KDS screen showing two new values

Cell Balancing Status
Number of Balancing Cell

Could someone with this car have a look and let us know the PID codes for those, and how they function.

I'm hoping the BMS for all the new Hyundai / Kia Electric Vehicles have these 2 values.

Hi,
Very interesting post, out of interest do you know on the Kia niro PHEV and the Optima PHEV how many KW in the rear battery / how many KW in the front battery
Thanks Andrew

There's a lot of used packs for these hybrid vehicles on sale.
Presumably the warranty has expired and people are replacing their degraded packs.
Best prices seem to be in Poland - 2500 zloty = 600 Euro

I found a couple of images from these sale sites.
This is a Hyundai Ioniq HEV manufactured 17th May 2015

This is a Kia Niro HEV manufactured 125h May 2017

Both these cars have a 1.56kWh LG Chem battery. made with Lithium Iron cells
The 375 code at the start of the serial number cannot refer to SK Innovation's E375 NMC cell.
