any updates from those in negotiations? My 2016 just went in with Check EV system and a turtle and won't charge. Dealer is saying new Battery, would be 3rd pack including the original. Working out a loaner car. Feel the end is near. 15K mi and 1 1/2 years left on 100K 10yr warranty
at a certain point the degradation accelerates quickly and you run out of useable range. On the other side I had BMS recall done and go a loaner on Kia for 1 1/2 months as they found time to work on the car... all negotiable while under warranty.
Apparently, this is not a thing... I didn't realize that. interesting that apps can tell you state of charge, but it's not communicated to an EVSE... Seems like an oversight or deliberate choice. That's a shame.
I may just Buy an NEW EVSE that can cut off charging when it sees the car at 80% and an APP on the Phone. The 3G cell in my 2016 is obsolete and KIA won't replace it because of the cost and low volume outsourced Head unit in Soul EV. This way I can manage charge independent of KIA.
oh... I'm also getting incidents of it stopping charging after being plugged in. I see blue 3 segment LED shows charging, leave and find out it didn't gain a mile. I hear the clunk of the EVSE kicking in and see the green charge light. so they talk to each other. Yet I end up with no added...
2016 has 7 days a week and options to split that across 80% or 100%. You have to set a charging time. for instance, you can't just tell it to charge to 80% as soon as you plug it in. You have to associate a charge start time for either 80% or 100%.
did all that. Charges to 100% fine. It seems to be something related to storing the change. the "timer off/delay" button on left side seems to confuse the app in the dash... It's perhaps taking too long to register the change before you turn off the car... I will mess with it more.
For several months since getting my new Battery in my 2016 Soul EV +, my charge scheduling behaves randomly. Most annoyingly not kicking off a charge session at scheduled times.
Yesterday afternoon, after getting my car back from a recall BMS replacement, I set everyday to 80% and start...
if you really are below 70% then you get a new battery. 2015 had 10 yr 100k mi warranty and you are looking at accelerated degradation. 70% or great at 10 years or 100K miles. whichever comes first.
Just had this recall done. Works a treat and what it should have been the first time they recalled the failing Park pin. Also had BMS and harness done, along with a reduction gear oil change due at 75,000 miles. She's in tiptop shape again.
I think I wrote on this before but the software fix to engage the parking brake when turning off the car is a half-arse fix. KIA really should do better. the car still rolls if you are parked and waiting on something. Significantly too. I suspect over time it will completely fail to the point...
So you believe your Kia Soul burning down your house, injuring someone, Brand affecting tragedy is the way Kia wants to go? Ya, no. The Replacement cost to Kia is chump change. Annoying and a red mark, but peanuts to what they actually make. The issue is likely logistics and supply chain.
When...
Chademo has a 2 way capability and Soul 2016-2019 can do this. the problem is the V2G units are ridiculously expensive. I want to use my car as a backup generator but the whole system is prohibitively expensive. You can AliExpress a V2L unit off Chademo but not rated for high wattage. Kind of...
hate to say it but join the club. 2016-2019 Solu EV with 3 G modems had head units that were outsourced and had a modem built into the headunit as 1 piece of tech. With 3G going away, so was Kia Connect formerly UVO. You might want to look into a crashed car unit from a salvage place. The only...
