    Questions

As EVs do not have camshaft sensors, I assume you have a gasoline-powered car. This forum is for the EV version. Your problem could be caused by quite a few things, but a cheap thing to check is the fuel filter.

Anyone resolved "Check Electric Vehicle System" car shudders and stops?

I have used a CTEK MSX 5.0 on many occasions without disconnecting the battery, with the car switched off, and it's never a problem. Any modern processor-controlled charger should be fine. You aren't doing anything different to that which the dc-dc converter does when the car is in run mode...

Going on Vacation - Turn Off 12V Battery with Fusebox Switch.

No problem doing that, either using a modern mains-powered charger, or, if out in the open, a solar panel on the dash. The charger can be clipped to the battery, or the panel connected to the OBD socket.

Refund for car that can’t be repaired

Yes, my 2018 30 kWh hasn't reached the bottom of the buffer yet. Be nice to see the whole list and the column headers - could you post a link, please?

Refund for car that can’t be repaired

Most of your electrical energy (you're in USA?) comes from fossil fuels at present, so you could say your EV is also a fossil fuel car in disguise ;-) Not so mine - we get ours from the Flamanville nuclear plant or the nearby wind farm in France. Maybe I exaggerated with 5 years, but we in W...

Refund for car that can’t be repaired

These are teething problems of a new product. I can imagine someone saying the same about the early automobiles. Give it 5 years and you'll have to eat your words. The BEV will be established as the commuter car. Those who want inter-city capability will be in hydrogen FCEVs, which will be...

Latest E400 BMS update appears to have reduced usable capacity.

Well, I have done a 100% charge , and the battery voltage is 413.6, with all cells reading 4.12 volts. This was after 12 hr from full charge end. The reported SOH, stated as read from the BMS, is 100%. All data from SOULEV Spy. This does not support my theory. I will have to search for...

What exactly runs off the 12v battery? Potential for an EcoFlow Alternator Charger while driving

Having seen the cost (over £2k) it doesn't look cost-effective to me.

Latest E400 BMS update appears to have reduced usable capacity.

Thanks, the data for the Norwegian Soul is just what I need. I will report when I have next done a 100% charge.

Latest E400 BMS update appears to have reduced usable capacity.

I quite agree. I will watch SoulSpy for when the reported SOH drops below 100% and then check my value for capacity. As Spy uses the SOH value computed by the BMS (which is presumably also used by KIA for warranty replacement), that should reveal whether they are playing it straight. Do you...

The Infamous BMS Update: Virtual Reality or Miraculous Healing?

Now not so good - see new thread Latest E400 BMS update appears to have reduced usable capacity.

Latest E400 BMS update appears to have reduced usable capacity.

The recall was done on my 2018 MY recently. Prior to the update, my SOH was about 101%. I calculate it using displayed SOC percentage before and after charge, mileage between charges, and kWh/mile between charges. The results vary a little, because of the poor granularity of the data, but are...

Refund for car that can’t be repaired

It is unfortunately the case that the repair policy for many EVs is to replace expensive sub-assemblies. However, 3rd party shops are beginning to emerge who can handle repair of those sub-assemblies. When that becomes widespread, the dealers will lose much of the non-warrantee repair...

No, it probably is. There's a thread on this board with pics.

Feel like Im being scammed by Kia

If your SOH is 35%, this means that the battery capacity has been reduced from 27 kWh to 35/100*27 = 9.45 kWh. At 100% charge, you have 9.45 kWh in the battery. Do not confuse State of Charge (SOC) with SOH. If the dealer is emphasising 100% SOC, either he is ignorant, or trying to mislead...

    New to the forum

The likelihood is that your problem is caused by the BMS update. If it was not recent, be aware that a newer version has been made available, which has allegedly fixed the issue. The SOH value is provided by the BMS. If you have the suspect BMS software, the SOH value may also be suspect, so...

    Weird charging issue

The best contact cleaning spray is iso-propyl alcohol (propanol). Avoid the type with lubricant added - that is good for switches, but will attract dirt build-up in open situations, so NO WD40.

    Trunk latch suddenly not working

Ground (aka Earth) is the return path for the 12V dc system. It is the chassis of the vehicle. One conductor takes the 12V positive to the trunk (aka boot) latch solenoid. The negative conductor from the solenoid is connected to vehicle ground. If that connection is open circuit, the...

Feel like Im being scammed by Kia

When you say reduced by 70%, do you mean that the capacity is only 30% of the original? 100% fully charged is not relevant. It can be fully charged at any capacity. It just means that the battery can take no more charge. What counts is the State of Health (SOH) which is the percentage of the...
