Heating and Cooling the Cabin - The HVAC System

Also, I have some suspicion of your minimum temperature being 17 degC. I can't see why it would be different to mine. Could anyone else with a 2016 with heat pump comment on their minimum temperature, please?

Heating and Cooling the Cabin - The HVAC System

A hot pipe indicates that a lot of heat is being extracted from the air supply, so that's good. Ambient temp on the cool pipe indicates the refrigerant is being adequately cooled by the external heat exchanger. Cooling below ambient takes place in the evaporator inside the cabin. The pipe...

Heating and Cooling the Cabin - The HVAC System

I believe the driver only button inhibits heat and/or cooling to the front passenger vents, which might explain your symptoms if it were pressed, or the condition was set because of an electronic fault. Have you tried disconnecting the 12V battery for a good long period (say overnight), to...

Heating and Cooling the Cabin - The HVAC System

I have a 2018 with heat pump. It definitely takes a couple of minutes to produce cool air, but my system minimum temperature is 15. Is 17 a typo? Do you by any chance have the "driver only" button pressed?

Should we buy this 2016 for $11K (US) ?

Yes, my car with original E400 battery cells is also not subject to the recall - if they haven't made a mistake, the recall does not affect all E400 , but one can only speculate why.

    Mythical type1 granny charger cable

Is that public network ac charging? If so, I would agree. You should be able to get a compatible charger from Amazon, or similar. Here's one which looks ok to me, assuming you're in N America. It has the Type 1 J1772 plug (5 pins) to fit the car. Check the plug (or the supplied adapter) at...

12V battery in 2016 Kia Soul EV keeps dying

Warning - don't buy the BM6. They can go wacky. I recently found one seller on EBay actually stating that readings can be erroneous, and "if this matters to you, don't buy". The Ancell BM200 seems to be ok.

    Driving mode B on highway?

That 84 miles was an estimate based on the default values and the driving that had been done in its 130 miles. My rule of thumb is to assume I will only get 75% of the estimated range - you did better than that. I don't think much of a dealer who didn't supply the car with 100% charge.

Getting a power inverter - what size to not drain the 12v battery too quickly?

As skipsteel says, you must connect to a point that can support the current you intend to draw. The battery positive is connected via a cable which is sized to carry the maximum charging current of the battery, which will be well below what the converter can output. If that is 60A (a guess)...

Getting a power inverter - what size to not drain the 12v battery too quickly?

If you are going to use the inverter with the car in "ON" mode, so that the dc/dc converter is powered, the limitation is not the battery, but the output of the converter. The converter 12V output is in parallel with the battery, so, if the battery is fully charged, it will just float across...

    SoulSpy no longer displaying SOH?

Mine is a 2018, and admittedly in a much milder climate, but it is still showing 100%. My own "home brew" calculations suggest the real value is between 101 and 102%, and I assume the BMS never reports greater than 100%. Most people agree that the SOH=100% state is quite a bit less capacity...

    Odd SoulSpy readings

Update: The E400 recall was published in UK in February, but my car is not included. When I pressed them, they said not all electrical/electronic units were the same build, so that could be the reason. But its all governed by the system, so no common sense deployed. I just have to hope all...

New tyres for Kia Soul 2018 EV car

I assume your statement " which are also the standard tire size of Kia Soul 2018 EV car (205/60R15 92H)" has a typo, and that it should be 205/60R16 . I suggest you use the comparison feature of this calculator to see the effect of the changes you asked about. You will see that in all cases...

    Odd SoulSpy readings

I would add to that the 2018 model with E400 battery cells which has not yet received the updated BMS and harness. That is certainly true of mine - the SoulEV Spy app was updated to recognise this variant, and it takes advantage of the BMS data to report SOH (presumably the SOH data was not...

BMS Battery recall - False warnings.

On the contrary, I opined that you could not possibly know that you were correct and were simply expressing an opinion which could result in danger if embraced.

BMS Battery recall - False warnings.

Just because you haven't experienced a fire doesn't mean you won't. Spinning the revolver cylinder and pulling the trigger without result does not mean the gun is unloaded.

Battery Recall for cars with E400 high-voltage battery.

The author of SoulSpy told me he did not know what the parameters SOC_precise_pct and SOC_pct were, and he assigned the names by guesswork. From recent discussion (see post #214) it appears that SOC_pct is BMS SoC, SOC_display_pct is what the dash says, and SOC_precise_pct is unknown. My...

Battery Recall for cars with E400 high-voltage battery.

Thanks andrew1joe, that makes it much clearer. I'll take note of the values next time I charge to 100%.

Battery Recall for cars with E400 high-voltage battery.

If the BMS SOC shown by Car Scanner shows how much of the original capacity is remaining, it seems to me to be identical to the SOH. If I'm wrong I'd like to know why.

Battery Recall for cars with E400 high-voltage battery.

Going back to post #209, and trying to understand - what is the difference between SOC(BMS) and SOH?
