My 2018 model does not do that. If you plug it in later than the start time, it starts charging straight away.

Mine (2018 model) used to say that, but the app was updated and it now says 100% - I think that's because the BMS does not report values greater than 100%. Check whether you have the latest version of the app.

The recall is to apply an update to the BMS software, to detect an abnormality in cells which can give rise to a battery fire. So it should matter to you, perhaps more so in a warm climate.
