Kia 2017 ev stuck at 50 percent

In that case, it seems you have a 2018 MY car, which does not have the option to limit the charge to a percentage - all it has is the option to time the start and end points. Check that you have not got that option set, and, if not, there is a defect. If the dealer is no help, take it up with...

    SOH 100% and poor range

Good job. Out of interest, how long was the video showing the capacity loss while stationary?

    AC sometimes does not work

I very much doubt the canned stuff is other than dangerous to the SoulEV. It probably does not comply with the electrical insulation properties necessary to a high voltage compressor. I also read somewhere that the hose fittings for the high voltage compressor system are different, so will not...

Kia 2017 ev stuck at 50 percent

I'm sure it is 80%, not 50%, but it was removed from the 2018 models because of US regulations. I think it is accessed on the earlier model via the timed charging options page.

2016 Soul EV replacement battery - range unchanged and voltage question.

When I got mine, it was 2 years old with 30,000 miles. Its GOM range was and still is 120 Winter (maybe not as cold as yours) and 145 Summer ( maybe not as hot as yours). If it had your reman battery in the same condition, those values would be 115 and 140. That seems to be consistent with...

2016 Soul EV replacement battery - range unchanged and voltage question.

It is likely that your reman battery is using the new-technology cells introduced in the 30 kWh vehicles, probably because the stocks of the original cells have been exhausted. The new cells have higher capacity, but you only have 96 cell-pairs, whereas the 30 kWh batteries have 100, i.e. the...

2016 Soul EV replacement battery - range unchanged and voltage question.

KIA have not made clear how many cycles are required to get the BMS algorithm reasonably close to representative output - they just say "multiple cycles". I have consulted my records, using the summer/winter variation of GOM value (extrapolated to 100% SOC), and it seems that something like 10...

2016 Soul EV replacement battery - range unchanged and voltage question.

I don't know for sure, but I think the BMS "recalibration" will be slow (i.e. require many cycles). My understanding is that the full procedure for replacing of the battery should include reset of the BMS, which implies it will use stored default values as its starting point. With all new...

Dash lights for abs, tc and(!) come on while driving.

You could try a phone app and dongle to read any stored codes. Also check the wheel speed sensors - any crud stuck to them? Shaky cable?

Extended warranty recommendations in the UK

Let us assume I insure under those conditions at the 7 year point, and the battery drops to (say) 50% at the 9 year point. If I wish to claim, I would have to show that the manufacturer defines normal degradation to be no worse than 80% SOH at that point. How can I do that? Afaik, KIA has not...

How do they define the replacement point for the battery?

    KIA EV Soul battery decay

The SOH is the current capacity divided by the nominal capacity of the battery when new, expressed as a percentage. So a 27 kWh battery with SOH of 60.4% has a current capacity of 27 x 0.604 = 16.308 kWh. Was the SOH determined by the dealer using the KIA test equipment? If so, why are KIA...

    Thoughts on socket splitters?

Not ideal. A plug/socket arrangement carrying high current is a potential weakness, in terms of a poor contact causing overheating. Having two in series compounds the problem. Much better for high current services to be permanantly wired. However, the splitter is better than unplugging and...

    Battery Backorder? Since Nov '21

The replacement battery will have the same number of cell-pairs as the original (96), but the cells are probably the newer technology used in the 100 cell-pair 30kWh batteries, which have a higher capacity and much better durability, so they should last a lot longer. The increased capacity...

HV battery swap - miles not changing

Just a guess, but the replacement battery must have many more cells than the original, so does the BMSneed to be changed to one compatible with the bigger battery, and does the harness between the battery and BMS also need to be changed to allow the BMS to address the extra cells?

HV battery swap - miles not changing

I think the BMS needs a software upgrade to tell it what the capacity of the new battery is. Afaik, the only people who can do that are KIA dealers, but you may get told that its not possible - it may depend on what restrictions are incorporated in the software of the KIA Maintenance System.

    Battery Backorder? Since Nov '21

If they didn't reset the BMS, which applies default data to the GOM, then it will take something like 6 to 8 cycles before it reflects the new battery capacity.

Kia Mechanical Breakdown Protection, and battery

I can't say for sure, but it would be pretty indefensible if it did not, and I would expect a court to find in your favor if KIA tried to apply a lower definition (unless, they had predefined it in the warranty terms, which you have presumably checked). OTOH, if the warranty is provided by a...
