80% or 100% charge scheduling not starting when programmed. 2016 Soul EV+

I may have misunderstood the BMS / L2 EVSE communication protocol, but I don't think an L2 EVSE has any idea of the battery % - it's just sending AC to the car for it to convert to DC for charging.

Questions about purchasing a 2016 Soul EV.

We got a new battery last summer and figure that the GOM is reading ~20 miles under real-world range. We have run it down to ~10% and recharged to full a couple of times, but it's not corrected itself. Scheduled for the BMS and EPB recalls later this month, so we'll see how the former impacts...

Questions about purchasing a 2016 Soul EV.

Well, Kia will / should have a record that the original pack has been replaced with an E400 (they do for ours, hence we're subject to the recall), it's up to you to decide if the recall matters to you, or not. What might the consequences be if you purchase the vehicle, ignore the recall and it...

Questions about purchasing a 2016 Soul EV.

Just to clarify the 'car shouldn't be sold' part of my response - I now understand that applies only to Kia dealers and isn't an NHTSA rule.

Questions about purchasing a 2016 Soul EV.

As IanL wrote, there is a recall outstanding; if you're in the US, and per the recall notice, the car shouldn't be sold if the recall hasn't been actioned. I will go further and say that you should maybe reconsider the purchase, as the general sense is Kia hasn't got their arms around the...

80% or 100% charge scheduling not starting when programmed. 2016 Soul EV+

So presumably all manufacturers changed their charging rules to match the EPA? How many of those manufacturers still have 80% charging disabled? This is on Kia for not reinstating - if charging to 100% is detrimental to the battery, they are complicit in the battery's degradation.

80% or 100% charge scheduling not starting when programmed. 2016 Soul EV+

I can't help with fixing the problem, sorry - but I am curious about being able to set a target % for charging; on our '17, that disappeared a couple of years ago (at the same time the head unit was replaced under warranty) and I understood from various sources that Kia had decided to delete the...

Car stuck at dealer for 3 months awaiting warranty battery replacement (2017 Soul EV)

I am a little surprised there hasn't - yet - been a class action lawsuit; maybe the relatively low numbers involved in the recall (under 3K) make it not worthwhile for an attorney🤷

Battery Recall for cars with E400 high-voltage battery.

I wonder what the reason is for slow uptake? Maybe BMS harness and battery supply issues? Owner scepticism that Kia have actually got their **** together? I would note that vehicles subject to the recall may not be sold until repaired (paraphrased from Kia's recall notice).

Battery Recall for cars with E400 high-voltage battery.

From what I've read here and elsewhere, you almost certainly have the E400 batteries - can you share the part number from the service order? In our case, we only received the interim notice. Worthwhile checking for recalls here, if you're in the US: https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls

Battery Recall for cars with E400 high-voltage battery.

Fwiw, we also received the SC287 recall notice about 10 days ago for our '17 + model. When I went online to the dealership's website to book an appointment, it also showed the SC267 outstanding. We had received an interim notice for the battery recall, but nothing else; our battery pack was...

Battery Recall for cars with E400 high-voltage battery.

We just received the notification for the EPB recall (SC287); when I went to the dealer portal to book an appointment, it also showed that SC267 is pending - this is the E400 battery recall, I believe. We only had a replacement - remanufactured - battery pack installed end of July; whilst the...

Battery Recall for cars with E400 high-voltage battery.

Have to say that this is what I presumed to be happening when the pack in our '17 was replaced with a reman.

    SOH 100% and poor range

I would say a little more than that, as I believe the pack is now 28.8 - based on other posts. That said, we remain nervous of testing the range too much further - about the only gauge we have confidence in is the odo on this car. We'll see where we are, range and battery wise, after the...

    SOH 100% and poor range

Well, I did not know that about the + trim, which we do have - thank you! Range on the GOM is now down to 94. Ran it down to 13% (106 miles) and the GOM was at 9🤷

    SOH 100% and poor range

Interesting part number - our replacement ended 4250R; what year is yours?
  17. U

    SOH 100% and poor range

Good luck with the dealership. The cynic in me thinks that Kia know the SOH isn't a reliable measure of battery health, but they're content to continue using it.
  18. U

    SOH 100% and poor range

Ran it 113 miles, to 11% battery, @ 4.5 miles / Kwh. Charging it to full took just under 29 Kwh - I figure an energy conversion / transfer loss of maybe 15% in there. Range is showing 96 this morning🤔 So we don't have much to complain about regarding the replacement battery and real world range...

    SOH 100% and poor range

Ran SoulSpy this morning and the cells are showing 50/50 approx 4.12 / 4.14. Battery SOC is 95, battery SOC 'precise' - whatever that is, shows 83.6.Battery SOH 93.8
  20. U

    SOH 100% and poor range

For anybody still following, range displayed seems to have settled around 96/97 miles. SoulSpy is indicating an SoH of around 93% and an SoC of around 95% - not what I was expecting from a new pack, so not sure what to make of it.
