    Winter Tires? All Weather Tires?

Full winters on steel rims is my recommendation and what I use. A winter tyre is not only about the tread pattern, it's about the rubber compound being soft enough to grip the cold road. Switchover time is 7 Centigrade, and with them on rims it is easy enough to do it yourself. Note that tyres...

2016 Soul EV+ ... is my battery eligible for replacement?

There's only coolant, gear oil, brake fluid, and windscreen washer fluid in the Soul EV, plus a little bit of compressor oil in the AC system. Smell and feel of the fluid can help more than colour when trying to determine what it is.

Resolved: Heat pump stopped working after climate software update SA427, fixed via Kia Service Action 210031

The 2022 is going to be quite different from the 1st Gen models that this thread is about. I do think that the heat pump gets noisy if it is getting low on refrigerant, may be worth getting them to check the pressures.

2016 Soul EV+ ... is my battery eligible for replacement?

I don't think battery replacement touches the coolant system, that's all under the hood while the battery is under the car. I would check your coolant level and I definitely agree with taking it to the dealer for them to log the error code. If they did touch the coolant system it may be that...

    Slow Level 2 charging

I believe all the first generation have the fan in the trunk to draw the air through and cool the battery. The 2nd generation have a liquid cooled battery

    Slow Level 2 charging

One other thought as you are down in the south and it may be warm. If the DC fast charge is also very slow or refuses to start, see if the fan in the trunk floor is working properly - it should kick up in speed when DC fast charging to keep the battery cool. If you have an OBDII bluetooth dongle...

    Slow Level 2 charging

I suspect the OBC rather than the BMS. If the BMS wasn't accepting more than 1.7kW then you would have problems with regenerative braking. You could confirm by trying to DC fast charge as that goes straight to the BMS and battery, not involving the OBC at all. It doesn't really matter, if you...

Can a bad auxiliary (12v) battery prevent EV system charging?

The 2016's and earlier are notorious for having bad OBC, mine blew earlier this year. I'm surprised that Kia isn't just straight replacing it. I bought an extended warranty with the car, so I have to take mine in once a year to keep the warranty intact and it gets all the updates. There's been...

Can a bad auxiliary (12v) battery prevent EV system charging?

There was a firmware update a few years ago that changed the DC-DC converter behavior while charging. For anything, the 12V needs to get the main contacts online to enable power from the main propulsion battery to drive the DC-DC converter. If the 12V is weak, you can get all kinds of weird...

EPB tool for rear brake pad replacement

I just finished doing the rear brakes. I ended up disconnecting the wire and using a 12V battery from my UPS to wind the EPB in before removing the caliper. Once I had the new pads in and the caliper back on, I pressed the brake pedal a few times to settle the pads and piston, and then connected...

    Emergency use of EPB

I wonder if the tyres were slightly different diameters from different tread depths and patterns, and that was enough to upset the ABS and cause it to not function properly? It means regular tyre rotation is very important.

Limiting the charge to 80% - Level 2 Charger?

I think it was to do with how the range was rated - because it had both 80% and 100% charge, the range counted as the average of the two rather than just the 100% charge. The whole thing is quite stupid.

    Emergency use of EPB

Did the EPB literally lock the brakes solid and cause the wheels to skid? I'm also concerned that your brakes lock up and skid when you panic brake with the foot brake. I think there is something wrong in your ABS system. With wet roads and bumps that can cause a wheel to hop, and definitely in...

    Emergency use of EPB

I definitely have working ABS, it will pulse the brakes during hard breaking.

    Emergency use of EPB

I tried it when I first got the car at about 50kph / 3 in the dry. I only applied it for a second or so (i.e. not to full stop) and while it didn't actually lock the wheels, it did brake aggressively - make sure that there is nobody behind you! That was before the recent EPB firmware update, so...

EPB tool for rear brake pad replacement

That's using the official Kia dealer GDS to back off the EPB. I'm looking for something to do the same in my home garage.

EPB tool for rear brake pad replacement

Anyone have any recommendations for an EPB tool that definitely works for our cars? I need to replace the pads soon and this is the first car I've owned with an EPB.

2016 Soul EV+ ... is my battery eligible for replacement?

At least the replacement battery is turning up quickly. That's good news, some people previously have had to wait weeks to months.

    Battery Upgrades?

Almost certainly not from Kia. I know there was someone posting from a country where there was a thriving independent EV mechanic culture and people were putting battery packs from one car in another one.
