Inaccurate energy consumption calcs on trip computer???

I checked while charging mine on a 240V 30A EVSE. After 1 hour my breaker is a similar temperature (there is a thermal element to breakers so this is expected), but everything else is at ambient to maybe 1C higher. Right now you don't have anything that is hot enough to cause a fire, but you...

Inaccurate energy consumption calcs on trip computer???

Better for battery life to only charge to 80%.

Turtle mode while attempting freeway speeds

OBD 2 dongle and Soul Spy will tell you what's going on, both with cell voltages and cell temperatures.

Inaccurate energy consumption calcs on trip computer???

In theory it should trip after 3 hours. In practice it almost certainly will not. The breaker is measuring the current, it can't tell how hot any of the rest of the parts of the circuit is getting, If you have a brand new good quality socket with good contacts and good connections to it, you'll...

Torque PIDs question. CEC and CED Reset?

CEC and CED are values in the BMS. You may be able to set up Torque to do a difference between CED and a fixed value, with a reset option being to copy over the current CED value to that fixed value. Similarly for CEC.

Inaccurate energy consumption calcs on trip computer???

    1) It should be 12A not 13A at 120V. The 15A circuit is good for 12A continuous load. 2) You are reporting it charging at 1.82kW which is 15.1A. I don't believe it is dropping to the 13A it claims and is just signalling the car at 16A. That's OK if you plug it in to a 20A circuit, but you...

Inaccurate energy consumption calcs on trip computer???

That cable is scary, I hope you have a proper 20A circuit that it's plugged in to. If you have that plugged in to a normal 15A socket via the adapter that it comes with, you are asking for an electrical fire! Yes, the losses will vary, including whether the water pump, radiator fan and battery...

Inaccurate energy consumption calcs on trip computer???

1.82kW at 120V is just over 15A. The cable that comes with the car only signals the car to charge at 12A in accordance with the continuous load requirements in the electric code. The 2016 also derates what the EVSE tells it at 120V for further fire safety - I think it ends up only drawing...

    ODB2 USB vs. Blue Tooth

The 12V on the OBD II connector isn't switched on and off with the car, it's always on. If your car is parked for a long time then your OBD II adaptor can drain your 12V battery.

Inaccurate energy consumption calcs on trip computer???

If you are charging with L1 at 120V then yes, it is quite inefficient. The problem is that the car takes a certain amount of power to run things while charging. At L1 that's a significant percentage of the power coming from the wall, while at L2 it's a lot smaller percentage which makes the L2...

    ODB2 USB vs. Blue Tooth

I don't know if any of the apps like Soul Spy or Torque will work with a USB connection - I think they are all setup for a Bluetooth connection.

    Battery Cooling fan Service/Cleaning

With the intakes at the front under the seats then I'm not sure how much dust and debris will have made its way through the battery pack to the fan. If the fan is dirty then that would mean that the battery pack is dirty. I wonder if other cars are setup the other way around with the fan...

Resolved: Heat pump stopped working after climate software update SA427, fixed via Kia Service Action 210031

Just to confirm, I have a 2016 which has not had the FATC update. Today I was driving around with the outside temperature around 0C and the inside set at 20.5C, and I could hear the compressor operating as I slowed down. I have recently noticed that my AC is basically not working, compressor is...

I think you need to go to the top. Write an actual letter to the head of Kia Canada (find their name and address the envelope and letter to them) and mail it. Be very clear about what your experience has been, how you've enjoyed the car up until this point and what has gone wrong. Don't threaten...

    Buying a 2018

Worst case, the electrolyte freezes and bursts the battery. 2nd worse case, charging at low temperatures (including regenerative braking) can mess up the chemistry inside the battery and also cause failures. It all depends on where you live and where your car is going to be kept as to what...

    ABS Malfunction?

No, when I've had to emergency brake the ABS has behaved just like other cars. The one bit of braking behavior that I don't like is of you are doing heavy regen and the front wheels lock then the regen kicks out for a while and it almost feels like the car is accelerating. Braking normally at...

    Preconditioning noise

Yes, I think that nose is the compressor, used for both AC and heat pump. I hear something similar from mine.

Used soul 65 mile round trip

Agreed. I think you need a car with a bigger battery for that kind of commute.
