If you look all the way back of the J1772 connector on the car, you will see a white tab that protrudes from the top of the connector to keep the latch from going up. When you lock/unlock the door, do you see it go in all way? You can do a manual release if its stuck.

I noticed it as well at first and I said the same thing. However now owning the car for a few months I don't really think of/hear it anymore. I know the sound is there but with stuff usually going on in the cabin (family, friends, music...) it does not bother me as much... if at all.

I agree with this. My wife has the Ford C-Max Energi and I have the Soul EV. At this moment, if we were to take a trip, we would use the C-Max Energi. Granted its not a SUV, but the fact that we can refuel quickly is great and my wife won't keep on looking at the gage of my Soul EV is awesome...
