Got new E4000 battery and BMS for Soul 2015 under warranty

See my long series of posts in the "Car stuck at dealer for 3 months..." topic for what may end up happening. The fact that you are so close to the 10-year warranty expiration has me wondering if they might just do a band aid software update to get you to get past the warranty period, then when...

Car stuck at dealer for 3 months awaiting warranty battery replacement (2017 Soul EV)

Car is turned in, check has been deposited, and a nice dinner was held in the Hamster mobile's honor, courtesy of Kia America. They were very specific about what needed to be done as part of the third party return. Got a nice car wash the prior Sunday. The lady who handled the return said that...

Car stuck at dealer for 3 months awaiting warranty battery replacement (2017 Soul EV)

More progress: Kia corporate texted Mrs. Toe that auditing had approved the buyout and the only thing remaining was to coordinate the handoff at the dealership with the third party taking the vehicle. She requested evidence that this is actually the case, and was sent via e-mail a copy of the...

Car stuck at dealer for 3 months awaiting warranty battery replacement (2017 Soul EV)

More hoops to jump through. Kia corporate came back and said they would only pay $5,500 for the buyback versus $17,500  They said that they didn't have evidence of the original owner's (my) 3 years of lease payments. MY bank was bought by another one a couple years ago, by I do have all the...

Car stuck at dealer for 3 months awaiting warranty battery replacement (2017 Soul EV)

Car went into the shop on Friday. Supposedly repaired, but I'm not clear what was actually done. The 12v battery is less than 1 year old, so unless something is draining it for some reason it should have been good. The usual bad news is that Kia said the repair was done, and would send out...

Car stuck at dealer for 3 months awaiting warranty battery replacement (2017 Soul EV)

This sounds a lot like our chronology. Keep detailed records of all time in the shop, number of service visits, etc. You may end up hitting the $17,500 lottery like we might do! RT

Car stuck at dealer for 3 months awaiting warranty battery replacement (2017 Soul EV)

Ok, I was wrong about the "resting comfortably in our garage" part. Mrs. Toe about once a week or so takes the car around the block for a quick spin just to see if it is still resting comfortably. This morning the car wouldn't start, and throwing all kinds of error messages. We initially thought...

Car stuck at dealer for 3 months awaiting warranty battery replacement (2017 Soul EV)

Well, some unexpected news from KIA headquarters. The buyout offer has been received. Mrs. Toe purchased the vehicle off my lease in 2017 for $17,500. KIA will be repurchasing the vehicle for $17,500. 🥳 Not quite winning the lottery, but close. The process is that once the paperwork is signed...

Car stuck at dealer for 3 months awaiting warranty battery replacement (2017 Soul EV)

Car is now back with the onboard charger either replaced or fixed by a software update, I suspect the part was replaced though I didn't look at the repair receipt. Still awaiting the corporate buyout offer. I'll post it if anyone is interested. RT

Car stuck at dealer for 3 months awaiting warranty battery replacement (2017 Soul EV)

Wow, Keeps getting crazier and crazier. The "onboard charger" failed. Just picked up a rental from Hertz (Kia EV6 again) and the service tech said the part is back ordered. The claim amount on the invoice is shown as $3,963. Keep in mind we are still waiting for a buyout offer from Kia Corporate...

Car stuck at dealer for 3 months awaiting warranty battery replacement (2017 Soul EV)

Wife called the Kia case handler yesterday, and they still want credit union statements showing that the car is paid off. Not sure why the title isn't good enough. The wife told them if it's a matter of figuring out how much interest was paid on the loan, then we are happy to not have that...

Refund for car that can’t be repaired

@IanL Inter-city capability is already here, and has been for the last decade (starting in California in 2013). When I sold my 2015 Soul EV off the lease (to my wife) in 2018 I upgraded to a Model 3. I tripled my range (90 to 270) and the Supercharger network allowed me to travel to my usual...

Car stuck at dealer for 3 months awaiting warranty battery replacement (2017 Soul EV)

Corporate says the delay is that without the original financing documentation, that they can't compute a correct buyout offer. They said they will get us an estimated buyout offer that doesn't include the missing financial information. The e-mail that my wife sent them said that if the buyout...

Car stuck at dealer for 3 months awaiting warranty battery replacement (2017 Soul EV)

Ok, we are now about 5-6 weeks into waiting for Kia to get back to us with what the buyout offer is. The wife has been calling Kia and e-mailing them daily and is getting no response. This is the same scenario that played out when going back and forth to the dealer trying to get the car...

Kia dealer has my SoulEV for 3+ months

Same thing happened to us. Awaiting a Kia buyback offer. See other thread for details.

Car stuck at dealer for 3 months awaiting warranty battery replacement (2017 Soul EV)

Not horrible really... I'll let you know what the buyback offer is when we get it. The $3,500 would just be free money, and we could then sell the car to Carvana or whomever after we get the $3,500. So if the buyback offer is > ($3,500 + Carvana), we probably take the buyback.

Car stuck at dealer for 3 months awaiting warranty battery replacement (2017 Soul EV)

My wife just received an email from Kia with two options: Vehicle buyback or $3,500. The buyback requires 6 items of paperwork, including the original sales contract from 2017 when she bought it off my 3 year lease. She is going to the dealer today to get a copy of that if they have it. Car is...
