Battery Recall for cars with E400 high-voltage battery.

ABRP seems to be underestimating. But on a day like today in Vancouver (10-12C) heat set to 20C (and stabilized) GOM says 166-180 depending on how often HVAC is running (or turned off). Funny thing is, when the climate consumption says 0kw, and the fan is on it says the lower amount but when I...

Battery Recall for cars with E400 high-voltage battery.

@JejuSoul not sure if you use ABRP, but I assume a 2016 Soul with a replaced E400 battery (from a warranty replacement, and has had the parking brake, bms recalls done) has slightly different weight, battery performance than the original car, which would affect the estimated range of the car? I...

Replacing the single cells in the battery pack?

@JejuSoul - hypothetically, given that manufacturers seem to make lifepo4 battery cells in pouch form as well - assuming we find something with similar voltages (or something to adjust voltage/amperages to whatever the car demands), and all the regular sensors are put back in - would it be...

    Battery Upgrades?

That's probably lots of people trading in their early EVs (at least in the US) for newer ones with CCS (and promise of NACS adapters)... the Soul has its boxy shape which is good for room, but efficiency wise probably a classic Ioniq (28kwh) is almost similar in capacity, but you get more range...

    2016 Soul EV Range anxiety

Yeah that looks pretty bad….wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole. Go look for a classic Ioniq or something…or a 2018-19 30kwh as other posters said :)

Anyone resolved "Check Electric Vehicle System" car shudders and stops?

I guess Jeju is probably slightly better than Seoul in the summer (though probably still pretty hot). There's one for sale out here in Vancouver that's about the same (a 2015 with new cells, since the range is about 215km); though I can also assume that your BMS worked out that at 80km/h...

Anyone resolved "Check Electric Vehicle System" car shudders and stops?

Is this number with the HVAC on or off? The most I get out of a reman battery with the newer E400 cells is about 180km on the GOM (on a very optimal day, 18-20C). @JejuSoul does yours have a full 100 cells instead of the 96 that they had before?

    Analysis of a replacement battery.

Anyone on the forums considered/tried this? Seems like it’s a small EV repair firm in Auckland that replaced the cell modules from a 24kwh leaf gen 2, for CATL ones, upping the capacity to 40kwh, left a big gap in the centre which potentially could improve cooling(?), then they didn’t show it...

    SoulBox Range Extender project

It looks like a dongle and the specs don’t say that there’s a battery in it…

    SoulBox Range Extender project

Anyone else tried this recently and does it work as advertised? I’m going to Europe in Sept and figure I can ship it to somewhere in France so I can avoid too exp shipping and duties :D

    Battery Cooling fan Service/Cleaning

@JejuSoul I wonder if this is possible: would it work if we did heat pipes like in laptops/desktop PCs - a series of cold plates, no liquid (aluminum with a thermal pad in between), soldered to closed heat pipes (which would be running to the blower fan at the back, with a set of cooling fins...

    Trunk latch suddenly not working

Hmm the negative is connected to ground (ie the car body) as well as threaded somewhere else into the car, presumably the interior). But I’m unable to determine if anything looks wrong on initial visual inspection. I have my service appointment with Kia tomorrow anyway and have already notified...

    Trunk latch suddenly not working

Thanks! Do you mean the ground as connected to the 12v battery? I'm not actually sure what you meant by that.

    Trunk latch suddenly not working

Anyone know whether the trunk latch is a failure point? Suddenly the trunk wouldn’t open, and could only be opened from the emergency latch. :(

    Check electric vehicle system warning

I had mine replaced in 2020 (it would randomly show up when I got the car in 2016), after repeated requests to Kia West in Coquitlam - just don't go there... - who basically told me there was nothing wrong with the car, and they silently replaced the 3-way valve thing when I eventually...

Battery Recall for cars with E400 high-voltage battery.

not surprised :( though granted, at least my local Kia (Kia South Vancouver) was helpful to a certain extent - though my original dealer was pretty ****** at it (and now that I look at it later they do a hefty markup on all their cars, even used - would not ever recommend Kia West in Coquitlam...

    2016 Soul EV+ Battery Replacement - Remanufactured?

Well, car is in the service bay at Kia South Vancouver - we'll see what happens now, I talked to the tech and between the two techs they'll test the car by driving it all over the place to somehow trigger the stupid Check EV System light. So we'll see what the problem is this time. I have...

Anyone try a CCS to Chademo adapter

That feels like a weird regulation. But I get why… aren’t vending machines at rest stops commercial activity? You would think those would have been banned but EV charging is electricity vending essentially 😂

    2016 Soul EV+ Battery Replacement - Remanufactured?

I think particularly it was mostly the early Souls cos they were rushing to production and sourced a bunch of kinda ****** chemistry batteries, and chose to go air cooled (better than Nissan I guess? No cooled or heated). I’m looking at 2020 niro ev myself lol, just want the bigger range and...

Anyone try a CCS to Chademo adapter

In the US it seems most of the issue is having stations, having enough of them, and having them where they're needed on routes. To be honest, would be easier if they wired up a bunch of metered plugs and we brought our own charge cables. That way don't need to worry about the cables getting...
