Regen noise? AC compressor failure $4810?

Hi, I have been enjoying my 2020 Kia Soul EV but I have a new noise that just started this winter. I thought it was a whining noise that mostly occurs when I am regen braking. However, when I took it to the dealer they said it was an AC compressor noise and they would like $4810 for replacement and AC recharge. Has anyone else had this issue? I have have lots of heat and cooling from inside the cabin so I was not expecting any issues with the AC compressor.
