2015 Soul EV: Out of State Battery Replacement

Ouch, that looks pretty bad :? . You're definitely on hook for a new battery, but as Jeju mentioned, it may be an uphill battle for you fighting with the dealer (with back-and-forth) out of state. I would definitely not recommend this car to anyone who doesn't have a EV-certified Kia dealership...

L.A. Auto Show Media Day Crasher + Photos

Whoa, that's interesting. I believe that the "Designer Collection" is the top level trim. Good that it has heated rear seats, but looks like no more ventilated seats.

L.A. Auto Show Media Day Crasher + Photos

Ha, that's funny. You know what they say, fake it 'till you make it! ;) Too bad you didn't get more shots of the interior, not too many of those around. Do you know if the car had heated rear seats or ventilated front seats? I can't find any info on those in the press release, and it would be...

    2020 Soul EV - 64kWh battery: 200+ mi

I believe that there's two different sizes for the touchscreen. The one in the image you linked is the standard version (7 inch?). The massive 10.25 inch one is different (ultra wide screen).

2015 Soul EV: My Battery Replacement Story

Update on my car after exactly 8 months and 6k miles later: SOH is down to 106.5%. The Min/Max cell voltages still look good and are equally balanced. The Min/Max deterioration values have changed again. The max det is at 3.9% on cell #3, and the min det is at 3.0% on cell #1. Max det is...

2015 Soul EV: My Battery Replacement Story

If you go to the Kia website, you can punch in your zipcode and it shows all the Kia dealers nearby. Then, under filters, select Authorized Soul EV Dealer and it will show all dealers who are certified to sell/service Soul EVs. Good luck on your SOH report. You're welcome. Gas in CA is around...

Heat Pump vs No Heat Pump

This is mine (2015 MY), Soul EV shipped and sold in CA. Looks like I too have a heat pump? I thought all Soul EVs came with heat pump? Only the battery heater was optional, and mostly available in colder climates (e.g. Canada).

2015 Soul EV: My Battery Replacement Story

Update on my car after exactly 6 months and 5k miles later: SOH is down to 107.4%. The Min/Max cell voltages look good (both are equivalent). However, the Min/Max deterioration values have changed. The max det is at 4.7% on cell #95, and the min det is at 0.4% on cell #16. This is up from...

    Battery Ageing Model

The best time to check the battery temp is right after when your wife comes home. By that time, the car has gone through the morning commute, sitting idle at work, and the evening commute at 75mph. The temps should compound as JejuSoul mentioned, since the battery never has a chance to cool...

2015 Soul EV: My Battery Replacement Story

That's right, you're at 79.1% battery health. Once you hit <= 70%, you will get a new battery pack. Nevertheless, in my opinion, it's worth taking in your car to the dealership now and get an official State of Health (SOH) report, just to confirm that what you're seeing in Torque is accurate...

2015 Soul EV: My Battery Replacement Story

That's a great question. You have nothing to worry about as the "second owner". You're right, there's no mention of having to be the original owner for the battery warranty. However, the Soul EV warranty clearly states that the original owner + all subsequent owners are fully covered for any...

    Battery Ageing Model

Jim, no Soul EV sold in Cali comes with a battery heater. Not sure what's offered in other US states, but I do know it's standard up there in Canada. No idea if the battery heater can even be installed aftermarket. AFAIK, there is no stock heating or cooling. Everything is done through sucking...

    recommended obd2 adapter?

This is the one that I use with my Soul EV. Works great with Torque Pro! I bought this LELink BLE one to use with Leaf Spy, works great there. However, did not work with Torque Pro, even with the latest versions with BLE support.

    Getting a New Battery...Eventually

That's great to hear! My GOM with the new battery pack was also around 105 miles @100% when I got it back from the dealer. It is now down to 80-85 miles, but SOH is still at 100% according to Torque. I also do mostly fast freeway commuting, getting around 3 mi/kWh, so the GOM is about right. I...

Setting up Torque to show BMS data

I'm not sure what you mean, they are already CSV files on GitHub? I don't see how it can get any easier... You can just clone the repository and get the files you need all at once. Either that, or just open each file you want in the GitHub UI as RAW, and save the page. Chrome/Firefox...

    battery preservation

Ah yes, that's a good idea. But unfortunately there isn't any shade near my house. Driveway or street parking, both are going to be under the blazing sun. On another note, I know that the Soul EV kicks on the battery cooling fan for DCFC, but does it also do it for AC charging? If so, then the...
