    BMS software update

Done! First time I got the battery report they used GDS. This time I went to a new service provider, and now the report came from KDS. They are both in English and none of them include the deterioration numbers.

    BMS software update

Yesterday I had my car in for 3:rd service after 45000 km in 17 months. The SOH (State Of Health) value for the high voltage battery had changed. It is now 99.2% I was hoping to discover a corresponding change in the BMS OBD2 data, but unfortunately there is nothing to find. It's annoying...

    Battery Calibration

Calibration after 94% is different to what I see in my car. I always have the calibration at 392.5 +/-0.1V battery voltage, 4.08V (0xCC) cell voltage and 91.5-92.5% SOC. I use the 2.0kW EVSE that came with the car, if you charge using more power perhaps that is the difference.

    Car won't start

There are now several threads on this forum reporting problems probably related to the 12V battery. There is a noticable thing I like to point out, which may not be obvious to everyone: When the car is off and connected to the J1772 cable, there is NO 12V charging if the blue LED:s are all...

    Soul Spy?

Not necessarily. They also have larger encapsulation area to spread the heat in. I agree that we cannot know for sure where any of the 8 module temp values are located in the BMS data. However, I think it's more important to identify the max and min temperature values, which are more useful...

Have you tested a 100kW Chademo charge ?

I doubt this "demo" is anything else than just a demo. The article was made in november last year, and the list of certified CHAdeMO chargers as of 11-Jul-16 does not contain anything above 50kW. http://www.chademo.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/pdf/Certified_charger The picture showing 69.1kW at...

    Soul Spy?

JejuSoul, I see basically the same things as you, although on my car it's the current Module6 Temp that is mostly the lowest. Here's a sample where Module6 is 2C lower (hex bytes from the log): M1 M2 M3 M4 M5 M6 M7 M8 LO HI (Current interpretation) ============================= 24 21 24 23 22...

    Soul Spy?

After checking many of my log files I have found that the battery temperature mapping seems to be wrong. Particularly the Max and Min values, as they appear to be just two of the module temperatures. The only mapping that fits my data is if Max and Min go where Temp1 and Temp2 are today. Then...

    Battery Ageing Model

Leefer (sorry, just can't stand the forum commercial hijacks), I guess you live in the US and suffer from higher temperatures than we do in the cool Scandinavia... But I have also seen signs of dealers not understanding how to charge an EV. If they are lucky, they use a 20kW chademo and think...

    Charging at 16A on 120V (U.S.)

I don't think this is correct. The resistor for wire limitation setting is sensed by the EVSE, not the car.. The EVSE then outputs the proper PWM signal which tells the car about the limit. The PWM signal reflects the lesser of installed current and wire capability. The resistor network located...

    Battery Calibration

Yesterday and today I made a range check, to compare with a similar trip a year ago, although last summer I didn't have the nice Soul Spy stuff. :) [km] July -15 July -16 Odometer 7379 38936 Distance 222.2 212.2 SOC Remain 4% 2.0% user/3.5% battery kWh/100km...

    Soul Spy?

Yes, I have been puzzeled about them for awhile too. On my car I see two different scenarios: 1) During slow charge at night, they normally indicate "activity" every two minutes or so at the beginning, escalating to permanent "active" closer to charge finish. The "EWP speed" is mostly 0x30 -...

    Battery Ageing Model

I really don't know.. Don't see why it shouldn't though.. When I had service #2 after 30000km the guy who did it the first time was home sick, and whoever handled my car didn't know how to print the battery report.. Embarrassing.. :( I think my time in the sun was short - had a few more ups...

    Soul Spy?

You could try to monitor bit 2 in the VMCU record: (21 00 -> [22 3]:b2) and see if it follows the EWP activity. See the VMCU tab of the Kia Soul EV CAN messages spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1YYlZ-IcTQlz-LzaYkHO-7a4SFM8QYs2BGNXiSU5_EwI/edit?pli=1#gid=1449971753

    Battery Ageing Model

After several improvements during one week, I am now at the lowest deterioration values since first measurement 8 months ago. Max/Min deterioration is now 7.7% / 6.3% after 35000 km.

    Battery Ageing Model

I'm just looking for an easy, reliable way to measure and compare the battery capacity of my car. Getting rid of the Voltage variable makes sense. The Voltage/kWh measurements are fluctuating more depending on load and temperature, and there is also the low resolution of the kWh counters. My...

    Battery Ageing Model

It did improve again after I got back to the normal daily use. It changed to 9.3%/8.2% 10 days later, but since I've now got back to 80% charging, I don't expect any more changes until next time I charge to 100%. Can anyone explain why the deterioration values changed from 0.0/0.0 to...

Setting up Torque to show BMS data

I have recently notified about this in the Soul Spy thread. It is caused by a data format change in the newer/updated OBC Controller. The present apps, knowing only about the 1:st gen OBC will read the DC output voltage instead of the A/C input current... Software will need to implement a...

    Water inside reversing camera

I have been using pressure washer from time to time, but no problems so far. Can only agree about the dirt collecting back.

    Battery Ageing Model

Yes, you are right, my speculation was that I thought there were one or two cars with greater difference in those numbers. Can't find that data now though.. However, I still see no explanation to why the energy/charge counters are changed much more than what would be possible at the...
