There is the traditional “D” for drive mode, “B” for regenerative braking mode and Active Eco System button that lowers all torque by 20 percent and increases regeneration by 75 percent giving each of those modes another character.

nice :ugeek:

I expect the power reduction in 'ECO' mode, but would welcome an increase in regen. at speeds below 20 MPH. Kia could most likely do this with a software change.

I don't feel like regen is stronger after spending more time in B mode with Eco mode ON (and OFF). Maybe it's the wording of that quote? Eco mode reduces torque while B mode has stronger regen?

I notice a great increase of regen when in B mode. I love it. I now drive most places in B. It's kind of fun to see how good I can plan the deceleration before a corner so that I don't even have to use the brakes. I was used to the torque of our Focus, which is really great but the Soul is still sufficient even in Eco mode. As long as I can pull out onto a street and not feel like an obstacle to other vehicles then I'm okay. Its still peppier off the line than my Fusion Hybrid.

If Eco mode lowers torque by 20% why is it that a full throttle start shows 81kW on the display in either mode? I think eco mode only reprograms the throttle mapping making the first part of pedal throw less responsive but the full power is still available.
