Car won't turn off or on

My wife pulls into the garage and tries to turn off the car to charge. It won't turn completely off. It also won't turn back on. It's in Park but she is able to move it into Reverse (backup camera comes on, etc.) but it won't move.
Red battery warning light is on.
Car icon with key light is on but BOTH keys are in the car.
Connecting the charger does nothing.

Any suggestions? Kia service is on the way to tow the car but I would like to find a quicker solution.

Happened when turned on while charging in progress+running AC for me, just double stop (quick push to really stop all) the car and re-start solved it.
If it does not work, complete stop, disconnect charging cable, lock, unlock, enter, and retry.

Sounds like the car is in the "on" position instead of the "run" position.

Disconnect the car from the charger, depress power button to turn to off. It may take several presses of the power button.

It goes like this: OFF > ACCESSORY > ON > OFF if your foot is NOT on the brake when cycling.

When I got home the car was in the same state. I hit the power off button twice and it turned off. After that it operated normally.

I suspected that maybe the 12v system was drained but I can't be sure of that.

Glad to hear you got it resolved.

The Soul doesn't handle non-standard shutdowns very gracefully; a number of us on this board have had the car crap all over itself when disconnecting the charger after the car was already started.
