KEY FOB "LOW BATTERY WARNING"

My '15 Soul-EV started displaying "Key Fob Low Battery" when turning the Power ON. Both of my fobs have new batteries and both cause the same warning message, but not every time.
When I hold the key fob very close, or with fob touching the button, the Power turns on and the warning message disappears.
Would appreciate any suggestions on the problem or a fix.

There may be something interfering with the radio communication between keyfob and car. A powerful radio transmitter (radar is often a cause - are you near a port or airport?). Alternatively, a noisy electric motor - are you near a building air conditioning fan, perhaps?

Thanks for your input. This happens with car in my garage and also at other locations around the city. Also happens with both key fobs, both with new batteries. My guess is that the problem is in the car, with the installed sensing system losing sensing range.
