The new Kia Soul EV's a great car. Now in the 2016 version of the plug was still locked and there is for the USB port, an illumination. Unfortunately, at the shift lever not done anything yet. The problem, if you put the shift lever from D to P and the car even rolls easily, the transmission can be destroyed. In other vehicles, it is not possible to switch to P in order to prevent the problem. This software query is missing the soul unfortunately. In Europe, transmission are already destroyed, so if you do a test drive, pretty careful. I would buy the car until the problem is eliminated, because a repair is very expensive. I hope the Kia solves the problem soon.

If I interpret what you're saying correctly, the Soul EV's transmission can be shifted from D or B into Park while driving, which activates the transmission locking feature and destroys the gearbox. You're disappointed that the 2016 Soul EV has not been updated to block shifts into P while moving, which could prevent accidental transmission damage.

Interesting. Is anyone else familiar with this issue?

Yes it is. Do you want photos? How can I post them?

The wheels must no longer roll before you switched to p, otherwise can destroy the transmission.

Photos need to be posted somewhere else (Photobucket, Tumblr, Instagram, etc.) then linked to this bulletin board.

Did a failure like this happen to you?!

I was under the impression that in the U.S. it's mandatory that a car can be shifted to park at any speed. Naturally this will destroy the transmission but would potentially slow or stop a runaway vehicle.

This doesn't sound like a defect or a design oversight to me.

well, here is the link of a German page about the topic. The translation is not great, but there are pictures.
The problem can be easily solved easily. You just have to avoid to shift from D to P if the car is still rolling. A software could ensure that with a solenoid starter switch. Kia definitely has to change something, otherwise there will be many broken gearboxes soon. One wrong touch and the transmission is broken.. Costs 5000 Euro in Germany. And Kia gives no guarantee, so you have to pay yourself. Very bad.
