Major cold snap sent us plummeting into the 70s (F) this week. Saturday morning after the overnight charge the 2019 showed 123 miles which dropped to 119 when the AC was selected.

Is this 2019 with original battery? Also did you do the battery software updates #1 and #2, or just the current update, #2?

2019, unsure about the battery, we picked it up with 30k miles on the clock. I don't recall battery pack on the service record we were shown.

Did both the software updates. No noticeable change after the first, but the second seemed to diminish our estimated range, not by a lot though noticeable. That is, until the cooler weather.

Soulspy has shown 100 soh until one of the updates and now there's no value for that.

For those of us who don't live in Arizona or Dubai 70F = 21C is warm not cold.
You seem to be saying that your car's GOM shows a higher range at 21C than when the temp is hotter.
This is consistent with my car. Best values occur in the spring and fall when temps are around 21C.
Lower values in summer and lowest in winter.

The interesting part is your statement that the second BMS update for the 'fire-safety' recall lowered range in hot weather but not at 70F. Is this correct? The two drivers who reported lower ranges are from Canada and UK. Both never have temps as high as an Arizona summer.

Yes, I mean it would have been nice to have kept a charging log or something. It did not seem like we were getting the estimated miles during the warmer (110+F) months as we had seen prior to the recall. And likewise, I don't think it's ever reported 126 miles.

It's only natural that when you're not running heat/ac that the expected range is higher, it just seems the software update has tweaked those a bit.

We've been seeing 127 miles after the over night charge the last week and then after a long day of driving and Christmas shopping with a single fast charge early in the day, had 129 yesterday morning. No heat or AC that day of driving so I'm sure that helped the algorithm.

One day the wife reported 127 miles when she drove 1.5 miles to the gym (~3 miles round trip). When I got in a little while later it again showed 27 miles. She's mentioned it does that sometimes when she drives to work.

Down to a brisk 66* F this fine Christmas day, perhaps a chance of snow?

As a comparison point it’s currently 17.6F (-8C) and on average the 80% mark (since I charge to it daily except on weekends), and when weekends come I get somewhere around 125-130km range at 100% Though as you leave it in a cold parking lot the range will slowly drop, and in -20C close to -4F will get close to 100km I suspect. I generally drive from 80% down most days.

I moved from Vancouver to Saskatoon recently so the corresponding temps/ranges will need to be tested again. Will update on the weekend when I have a full charge again.

EDIT: Should note I have about 114K km on the clock, and on a replaced remanufactured battery. The newer E400 batteries are doing much better than before, though subjecting it to a Saskatchewan winter will tell how well it fares....

My bad, that should have read "127 miles". In other words she saw 127 miles, drove it 3 then when we drove a little later it was again saying 127.

We've also seen 129 miles in the last couple of days.

Update on my side - currently somewhere between -7C and -11C, 100% charge after settling to exterior temp from a heated garage with preconditioning is 125-130km, which is good if I need to drive that far, but will decrease as the temperature persists, and if I leave it outside. So let's say GOM reports 120km on average.

ironically, the car might do better if you heated it to approx 21C per the temp sensors, and then go around driving it, as the thermal mass will persist. Or in -20 and below, get the car to a fast charger that will do 100kw, fast charge to 80-94% (on the E400 batteries), and slow charge to 100% before a road trip, your range will improve slightly because of the heat keeping the batteries and you comfortable, at least in deep winter.

Saskatoon, SK (Canada) - 1:24 in the afternoon, -25C (wind chill -40C), battery temp around 8C (in heated garage kept around 12C), forgot to charge last night so needed to drive to DCFC.

Flo 50kw charger, 125A, charge rate hovering around 45-46kW charging from ~29-30% SOC.

It provides something that says SOH on it (two indicators) but whether that’s correct, I can’t tell yet. Mostly because the pack was replaced Dec 2023 and I’ve used it a year.
To quote @JejuSoul ’s comment:

Post in thread 'Turtle came on, 80% charged. Temp showing 124* F'

The OBD scanner apps don’t do much apart from read what the car says. I only really use it to see the temps on the car, for entertainment really… 😂 it helps a bit if you have a light on and want to see what the error code is but I wouldn't try to use it for anything accurate.

It gives SOH1 and SOH2. Some think SOH1 is the traction battery, and SOH2 the 12V battery. Mine shows, respectively, 110% (which would be nice, but is unlikely after 7 years service) and 60%, which is quite believable for a 4.5 year old lead/acid battery.
