With my 2016 I have calculated the following approx. charging rates using L1 (120v) charging during "normal" temps and very cold outside temps: Normal: +1.82 kWh per hour -29c: +0.54 kWh per hour So you can see that the car uses and additional 1.28 kWh equiv. every hour to heat the battery...

I wonder if the new sw updates have a bug (or intentional change) that disables the heat pump for some reason? That would explain it. Has anyone been able to document that their heatpump behaves differently than what you are seeing since the sw update (or even prior)?

Very strange. My 2016 has the new SW installed and still retains the 80% charge option on the timed charging.

The main variable that goes into the SOH % is the max deterioration number. 49% is bad, I would proceed to getting the dealer to test it. Really, the poor range should be enough too. (If you don't feel like messing around with Android, etc.).

Well sure, I meant I didn't need it for cooling anymore. The A/C switch is not usually lit when the heat is on these days either, unless I have Front Defrost button pressed. AFIK the heat pump is just magic and doesn't need to be turned on via some control, is that correct?

Yes, the A/C was repaired at the same time the replacement battery was installed. Works great now, though I don't need it anymore with winter settling in here in Canada.

2016 Soul EV+, recently received warranty rebuilt battery pack and all current firmware updates. Outside temp, 5c Heater on at 22.5c Drove 15 mins on highway at 115km/h. Upon arrival, no compressor running, and pipes into cab are all cold. I am pretty sure I've never heard my compressor...

In my 2016 I'm pretty sure it's part of the navigation/maps data. So it's only updated when the maps are, not dynamically determined at all.

Yep. It's the one to the right of the Charge Door Open button, lower left side of the dash. If it's depressed in a bit, you're overriding the timer.

Wow that's a tedious process. It sounds like you should be on your way now with regards to getting the warranty replacement. Be warned that this can often take weeks to accomplish. Hopefully KIA will provide a loaner car for you to use in the meantime if required.

I don't think you need to worry about "wear and tear" of the battery heating system. I'd prefer the batteries be kept at safer temps by it than not, when necessary. Having said that, in your climate, I doubt the winter mode feature would ever actually kick in even when enabled due to the...
