    [Solved] Dynamometer ... FAIL !

For those of us using imperial units, that is a peak of 103.5 horsepower and 183 lb-ft of torque -- measured at the wheels. For comparison, the 2.0L gasoline-powered Soul has a peak of 123 horsepower and 113 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. In the petrol car, power builds from about 50 hp at...

    Kia DriveWise: Intelligent safe technology

So Kia anticipates that 2019/2020 will mark an enormous turning point in the technology they offer in their cars -- in effect, reflecting an enormous turning point in how consumers select and user their automobiles. Wild to think that this begins only two or three model years from now.

    NEED HELP!!

Note that plugging your car in only charges the high voltage battery pack that powers the drivetrain. The small 12V battery that powers the instrument cluster, infotainment and other internal systems gets charged off the high voltage pack while driving the car. Leaving the car powered on for...

    Painting the rims

Thanks - now you've got me wondering what they would look like with the inserts painted silver to match the rest of the wheel.

    Creaking sound in the front

At low speeds I hear a significant creaking when I drive over speed bumps, gutters, potholes, etc. I suspect that it's the swaybar bushings or something else on the suspension that requires some lube, but I have yet to climb under the car to test that theory out.

Hyundai AE (All Electric) to be available before Chevy BOLT

Thanks, that makes sense. An Ioniq might be a better fit for my lifestyle than yours as I never put adults in the back seat of my car and my 60 km daily commute includes driving in traffic that's moving at 120+ kph. Unfortunately for Hyundai/Kia, when my Soul EV lease expires the Tesla Model 3...

    Accessory Hitches and Bike Racks

Awesome job with the install! Did you ever decide on a trailer? What specifically were you looking to tow?

Hyundai AE (All Electric) to be available before Chevy BOLT

Thanks for sharing your trip photos. You concluded by saying 'I don't have and won't be getting an Ioniq EV. I do have and will be keeping a Soul EV.' -- I'm sure we would all like to hear you elaborate.

Hoping the next update includes 'Drive Mode' settings.

Did you happen to notice whether Sport mode offered any additional options beyond climate, regen and speed limit?

    Jeju EV Rally

Funny you mention that. After five BMWs and many years as a card-carrying BMW club member, I never thought I'd end up behind the wheel of a Kia... but in the last three years I've purchased/leased three of them: a Sorento, my Soul EV and a new Sedona. Ever since Peter Schreyer came over from...

Tires on my new Kia suck

Do you plan to keep the same wheels, or replace those as well? There aren't good performance rubber options in the stock size, so you would need to +0 to a 225/55-16 on the rims you have. I like the BFG and Conti's that are available in that size, but I have no idea how a sticky summer tire...

27,000 miles 86-mile range; my Soul EV commute is over

46,000 miles (74,000 km) is a lot of mileage to accrue in two years. And to think that he did so in a car that can only travel 125 miles (200 km) between long recharge cycles. Impressive!

Air conditioning not working when car is not moving?

The a/c condenser core is sandwiched in front of the radiator, and the radiator fan pulls air through them both. Since the radiator cools the charging and control unit components, a malfunctioning fan could cause serious problems.

    Eco driving history bug?

Yup, the efficiency in the driving log is cumulative instead of per trip. Press the reset button on your steering wheel each time you'd like to start tracking over again, ie--to measure a specific trip.

Onboard charger : less efficience at low power ?

Thank you, that's very interesting information. I'm surprised by the big efficiency dip at 2.4 kW. I wonder if you'd measure that same value if you repeated your experiment?

Bad experience with Kia's Emergency Roadside Service

It's important to remember that Kia Roadside Assistance is simply a concierge desk that sends a dispatch request to your local towing company. Just like AAA, Kia has no real control over when a tow truck arrives at your location. Can you add a little more detail about this bit? PS - The...
