Btw, do you think SKI batteries in e-Soul/e-Niro will be as good as LG ones in Kona in terms of degradation? I think is an importing thing to take into account when deciding between one of these cars.

Just Picked up my 2020 Soul EV Limited (here in Canada that has all the options including a sun roof), wow what an upgrade to my 2019 Soul EV. I'll keep you posted on my experiences driving this optimum car. I had a Tesla Model 3 fan love the interior and seating so that has something to say about the car. She did notice the improved roominess over my 2019 Soul EV. What I love is the fact I only need to charge once a week, (I keep the car charged between 25-85% for battery longevity). The fact that I can now access the car and control it with the very good UVO app (something the USA version had in the older Soul EV) it plain great!!! The car's suspension is more forgiving than the 2019, very noticeable but only slightly more body lean around our coastal twisty windy roods.

Kia did a fantastic job in upgrading this car over the 2019 version!!!

So, do I understand you live in Canada and have either purchased or leased a 2020 Soul EV?

I am in the U.S., and have a lease on a 2017 Soul EV+ expiring in about 5 weeks. I contacted our dealer and told them we'd like to lease a new 2020 model, and were told that Kia will not sell any 2020 Soul EV models in the U.S. this year. They said that 2020 Soul EVs were available in Europe, and might again be available in the USA in 2021.

But, you have been able to get one, right?

So, apparently the moratorium on Soul EV sales applies only to the U.S., and not North America, in general.

Do I understand that correctly?

I wonder why.

We paid for our lease in full, in advance, and are ready to do it again. But, it would seem there is zero supply available in the U.S.

Hi DG, if you do a search for 2020 KIA Soul EV in Autotrader.ca you can see how many are available here in Canada, especially BC as the BC Government mandated a EV minimum sales for the auto dealers, so Kia has made them available! In autotrader.ca set the distance to Provincial and use Vancouver as a starting base. The Limited model is the top 64KW model the Premium is the 39.5KW base model.

You need to download the Overseas Retail Sales spreadsheet.
For the year 2019 Canada imported 30% of the Global supply. 1409/4710.
(600 of those 1409 were in Quebec - Statistiques SAAQ-AVÉQ sur l'électromobilité au Québec en date du 31 décembre 2019 [Infographie]
If I only count the sales of the MY2020 Soul EV I estimate about 800 in the last six months of 2019.

This means Canada is now on par with Norway as the top sales destination.

Norway sold about 1,000 Soul EVs in the last six months of 2019. (50% were parallel imports).
I have to guess that many of the parallel imports would be the older model hence
I estimate Norway also sold 800 of the MY2020 Soul EV in the last six months of 2019.

Two really awful reviews of the MY2020 Soul EV. 64kWh by TeslaBjorn.
I normally enjoy his videos and respect his opinions but not today.

The charge port door wouldn't open, even though the temperature was above zero and there was no ice.
It seems possible that the problem he had with the charge port opening was because it was locked.
Either he made a simple mistake or was creating 'clickbait' headlines.
He should have simply showed how you unlock the charge port with the key fob.
Alternatively just pull the release cord under the hood.

A positive EV reviewer would show you how to fix simple problems, not exaggerate them to increase viewer numbers.

Two very positive reviews by Jonny Smith at CarPervert.
The first demonstrates his new MY2020 64kWh.
In the UK there does seem to be a substantial price difference between the Soul EV and the Model 3.

The second is about buying a used 2018 30kWh. He has the two cars side by side and does a size and shape comparison.
He talks prices, and in my mind the prices on used souls in the UK are far too high.

Here's yet another review on YouTube.
I do not recommend this one.
His attempt to give a neutral opinion on the car seems totally fake.
This guy owns a new Tesla Model 3.
He rejected buying a Niro EV because it was not good value for money, even though he really liked the car.
He has some interesting previous videos about his own cost decisions.
But in this video he does not mention it.
I appreciate the previous Johnny Smith video far more because he has actually bought the car he is reviewing.

My take on that review is probably quite reasonable. However, unless the boot is smaller than my 30kWh Soul EV, I disagree about the dog. I get two dogs (one large) in mine. And I'm not funky, though I'm usually fresh

He's probably right about the lack of a cheaper, shorter-range version in the UK. And that the eNero is a better choice for many people. But I've already got an old RAV4 if I want a boring standard-look SUV. The Soul is attractive - maybe I am funky - but you should see my baggy jeans

Funeral car?! The black/red Soul EV makes me think of Darth Maul, it's a great colour scheme!

As to those who say the e-Niro is a better option... eh. The e-niro is more externally efficient (aerodynamics), whereas the Soul EV is more internally efficient (boxier shape creating more litres of internal space, per square metre of ground covered). I think they're both great options for different people. But Soul EV all the way for me, and for all the people I know who've faced this question.
