How loud or noticeable is the motor whirring noise in the Kia Soul? I can hear it clearly on the Nissan Leaf.

I often drive with no radio on, and have not noticed any motor noises in the passenger compartment - the car has very good sound insulation, and has a decided 'dead-thud' sound when you close the door. I find it very quiet inside.

Very little to none..

As already mentioned the car really has excellent interior sound insulation.

Zero motor noise under power.

A slight motor whine only just prior to a full stop while in full 'B' regen + eco mode.

The Soul EV is so smooth and quiet that the noise from those old school ICE cars around me is more annoying than I ever imagined it could be.

:D

The traction motor in my car is virtually silent and was noticeably quieter than the Leaf I test drove beforehand, though I didn't find that car's sound objectionable. The Soul has a very high-pitched inverter that can be heard if the windows are down and you're driving alongside a surface that can reflect sound, however.

The only noise my Soul makes is the brake system doing its thing when it switches from regen to friction. I can hear a little bit of racket from that, particularly creeping along in traffic with the radio off. Otherwise the car is effectively silent.

I have heard no motor whine from my Soul. It's a beautiful silent ride. The car does have a pedestrian warning sound you can hear with the windows open and the radio off.

After getting used to my parents' Nissan Leaf (which is itself very quite) and getting used to the drivetrain whine at speed, I was shocked at how dead silent the Soul EV's drivetrain is. The cabin is so quiet that at low speeds I can hear the faint hum of the seat cooling fans when they're running.
