Months away from 3 years, wife found the car didn't charge overnight. I assumed it wasn't fully plugged into the car as that has happened.

But then I was working near the unit and glanced down to see it off. Checked the breaker and outlet and 220v at both. Reset the breaker just in case and nothing. Replacement arrived, it lights right up. swapped back to the old one, 'she's dead, Jim.'

Now to be fair, it was intended as a stop gap and experienced some ungodly temps that most folk would never experience or expose their garage mounted EVSE to. Reaching 119* F (48c) during our summers and sitting on the west, full sun side of the house in a box that probably well exceeded those highs.

I plan to pull it apart to see if it's something simple like a fuse or solder joint.

I've given some thought to a disconnect to shut it off when not in use, but still need a method to shade that side of the garage.

What is great about the multi amp units is most of the time, 12a is perfect for overnight. But on the weekend running around, nice to bump it up to gain miles between trips without hitting a level 3.

It has been revised since the one I got, the older one has this body style:
Level 2 EV Charger, 40 Amp, 240 Volt, 25ft Cable

AI bot aside, the new one had us stumped as locking the car locks the release. A nice feature the old one didn't have but I wished was advertised a bit better.
We are well versed in being stuck at Chademo chargers, but this is the first L2 that wouldn't release. Third time stuck, I realized that each time I had unlocked the door to pull the hood to pop the release and so instead of popping the hood this time I tried the plug. Mystery solved.

Note : user kukriop is a spammer. The reply it gives is realistic. The spam is contained in the quote, which gets hidden from regular users, but of course is picked up by the search engine.web bots trawling the Internet. There are 5 messages by kukriop on this forum. They are all quite convincing and human-like responses. The ability of AI bots to truly deceive has arrived. Turing test passed.

I have deleted the spam link but left everything else intact so we can see how this spam bot works.
